My name is Mary Abbruzzese, I wrote a children’s book called Follow Breza to Preschool. As a teacher, I’ve seen children coming into my class excited to start preschool, but still apprehensive at what is going to happen when their caregiver or parent leaves, and the door is shut. So, I wanted to calm them a little bit by giving them a book to read before school starts. My book is called ‘Follow Breza to Preschool’, and it shows the day in the life of a preschooler.

This book is perfect for the preschooler or for a child that is already in school. A parent can read this book for the first time teaching a preschooler what happens in school as well as reading it later in the year and then the child can gain more confidence by talking about his or her school experiences with the parent.

I’m passionate about teaching the children literacy. When I went to school, I did my master’s thesis on teaching young children literacy. Literacy is the best gift that you can give to your child. ‘Follow Breza to Preschool’ has a few special pages at the very end of the book, something that other books don’t have. It is a little, I would say scrap book, or memory book of your child’s first year in preschool. It’s basically called an interactive book.

You can snap a picture of your child on their first day of school and put it here on this page or you can have your child draw a picture of himself or herself on their first day of school. There are things in here like draw your friends, draw your family, draw your favorite thing to do, draw a picture of your favorite book, and then at the very end, there is a place to put a picture of your child on their last day of preschool.

As a teacher, I’ve heard many stories from the children. They let you know everything that happens in their lives, and one of the big things they talk about, is going to the doctor. So, I decided to write another story about taking Breza to the doctor and going through everything that the children do. Maybe getting a shot, having the doctor listen to their heart, getting weighed, their whole experience through the doctor and I think this will ease their minds about going to the doctor for the first time.
